House snow clearing in Alberta
Service policy
Last updated October 28, 2026. These are the terms I use. They do not remove a right that Alberta or federal law does not let you give up.
I clear houses only, in Edmonton, Beaumont, and Leduc, during November 1 to April 30. I do not take businesses, parking lots, plazas, roofs, or ice dams.
What a visit includes
A standard visit includes the driveway, the front walk, the front steps, and the city sidewalk directly in front of the house. On a one-time clear, the seasonal route, a visit pack, or a monthly package, a corner lot is $10.00 extra each visit because of the added sidewalk, and salting is $5.00 each visit, unless that package already includes them. The full season price includes corner lot and salting.
The ridge a city plow leaves across the driveway is included. It is not a separate fee. A rear pad is cleared when you have asked for it in the access notes. It is not a separate fee. Snow is piled on your property, not on the street and not on a neighbour's property.
City sidewalk rules
The bylaw duty to clear the sidewalk stays with the owner or occupier. My timing target does not move that duty, and it is not a promise that the city will treat the sidewalk as cleared on the city's clock.
Edmonton's Community Standards Bylaw 14600 requires the owner or occupier to keep an adjacent sidewalk clear of snow and ice. The bylaw sets no number of hours. The City accepts sidewalk-snow complaints after at least 48 hours without new snow, and it can fine the owner and charge for cleanup.
Beaumont's Community Standards Bylaw 1024-22 requires sidewalks to be cleared within 48 hours of the snowfall. Snow is not to be shoveled onto the street or a neighbouring property.
Leduc requires snow and ice to be removed from an adjacent sidewalk within 48 hours after it is deposited.
Timing
Seasonal visits trigger at 2 cm. You do not have to call for those. One-time visits happen when you request them and the route has room. Seasonal customers, pack customers with visits left, monthly packages, and full-season packages are cleared first. A monthly package covers every triggering visit in the calendar month on its invoice. A full season package covers every triggering visit during November 1 to April 30. My target is within 24 hours after the snow stops, weather and volume permitting. The work is done by shovel. The confirmed booking names a morning or afternoon window when one is set.
I always attempt to clear a house that is booked. If roads are closed, I am ill, equipment fails, or the property cannot be reached safely, I try to contract that portion out. You are not charged extra when someone else does that portion. If it is not contracted out, I refund the published rate for the part that was not cleared: the driveway, the corner lot, or the salting, when that part is its own charge. On a full season package, corner lot and salting are inside the package price and are not separate leftover charges. A pack credit is not used for work I do not clear and do not have cleared.
Cars left on the driveway may mean I clear only the open area. That partial clear counts as the visit. Tell me where snow should be piled and what to avoid. I take an after photo on a completed job so the invoice can show the work. A photo is shown on the public site only with your consent.
